We could not be happier with the work done to our home by Randy and Paula Tews and their construction team.   Our first project with R. Tews began in the late spring of 2006.  We met with Randy on the remodeling of our kitchen.  We wanted to create a totally new kitchen and expand it into an existing dining room.  We also replaced a half bath on the same level as the kitchen, painted the whole first floor area and added hard wood floors in the living room and the new kitchen area to match our existing ones on the first floor.

One of the first things we noticed about Randy was his professionalism.  He came to appointments on time and returned all phone calls promptly.  His team was on time everyday, extremely considerate of us and our needs and cleaned up after themselves every night.  He was a constant presence on our project and had things redone if he found them not up to his standards.  Randy not only provided us with high quality work but expected no less from his suppliers and subcontractors.  The day our kitchen cabinets arrived he was there to inspect them and before we had even seen them he had some of them marked as unacceptable and they were replaced.  We learned very quickly to trust Randy and his judgment.  His attention to detail and careful planning made it possible for our new kitchen to be finished a head of schedule.  We have a wonderful new kitchen that is not only beautiful but very functional.

Our second project with R. Tews began the spring of 2007.  There was no need to go out to bid with this job.  We knew we would never be comfortable using anyone but Randy Tews. This new addition was on the second floor of our house.  We had an office, new master bath and walk in closet added to our existing master bedroom.  The whole upstairs was painted and windows were refinished.  We also added an attached two-car garage to our existing two car garage with a big workshop.  This addition was going to totally change the look of our house from the front and it was a big concern of ours.  We wanted the addition to look like it was part of the original house design.  Randy assured us that it would look great and he delivered as promised.  We could not be happier with the end results.  Every time we drive up to our house we are just thrilled with the final product.  It looks like a brand new home.

Our third project with Randy was in the summer of 2008.  We had a deck that extends off the back of our house and encompasses a 28ft. round pool redone.  The original frame work was to stay and the green treated wood decking and rails were to be replaced with a new composite wood so that it would not have to be stained every year and we would not have to deal with dry, cracked railings.  Randy was efficient as usual correcting all of the structural issues with the original deck and improving on the design of the deck.  The deck looks fantastic and our house is now totally renovated to our complete satisfaction.

  From our first meeting with Randy, we were impressed with his ability to conceptualize what we were trying to accomplish in the remodeling our twenty year old home.  In a very short time, Randy understood our vision and came back to us with a well thought out plan to get the job done, within our budget. As we progressed, there were some unexpected developments, as there is with any remodeling project, but Randy’s experience allowed him to come up with creative solutions that kept us moving forward. 

We began working with R. Tews Construction & Design in April 2003. My husband and I were interested in adding onto our 1-½ story house, so that it better fit our 5-person family. What impressed us up front was the promptness in which our calls were returned from Randy Tews. After our first meeting with Randy, it was pretty clear to us, that he had been in this business a long time, knew how to remodel an older house such as ours, and cared about quality. We thought the design that was presented to us was excellent and fit all of the needs of our young family. The toughest part was definitely waiting for the schedule to open up, so construction could begin on the addition we had decided on.

Construction began on our addition in November 2003 and continued approximately through March 2004. During that time period there were very few days when someone was not at our house working. We thought the scheduling of the various sub-contractors was excellent as the work flowed well, and we were never waiting for someone such as the electrician or plumber to come. The crews from R. Tews Construction & Design were always polite, professional and informative. Any of our concerns during the construction phase were addressed promptly, and Randy Tews continued to remain as assessable as he was during the design phase of our project. The overall concern for quality that we saw during the design phase also remained as we progressed through the 5-month project.

We’re very happy with our decision to add-on to the house, we love the looks of our remodeled house and all the extra space and rooms we now have. There seems to be plenty of horror stories out there about “bad” contractors. I always tell people that we were one of the lucky ones. I don’t think we could have found a company better than R. Tews Construction & Design, and we would highly recommend them to anyone considering a remodeling project.

Looking to remodel or add on to your current house? Our family would like to recommend R. Tews Construction and Design for your next project. Our family was looking to add more living space to our current house, and in the spring of 2004, we sat down with Randy Tews who provided us with many options regarding the addition as well as the cost of the addition. He was attentive and listened to our needs and designed our addition specific to our lifestyle.

We have added approximately 1,000 square feet to our home and everyone who comes in to see our home comments on seamless the addition is to the existing home. Our house looks like it was originally built with our current design and does not look at all like an addition was put on. Randy is particular about the craftsmanship and quality work of his crew. Randy was onsite many times during the construction phase and on several occasions, provided input and suggestions to ensure that the addition met our individual expectations and needs. The crew was also very cognizant of the fact that we continued to live in our house during the construction of the addition and took measures to ensure that our living arrangements went uninterrupted as much as possible.

To celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary my husband and I decide to remodel our home. We studied and searched for ideas. Once we agreed on what we wanted we had the mission of finding a contractor that could visualize our dream as well. I drove by a remodeling project that R. Tews Construction & Design was working on. When considering the remodeling of my kitchen, friends and neighbors had recommended R Tews Construction for the job. They couldn’t have been more right. Randy and Steve met with me and walked through what I wanted. They listened to me, made creative suggestions and helped me layout a beautiful kitchen.

While the remodeling was taking place, their crews were conscientious about the fact that a family was still living in the house while the project was happening. Steve did a great job of informing me on a weekly basis as to what was going to be completed that week. He kept the project on task and it was actually completed ahead of schedule. Any issues that came up with suppliers were handled by Tews. I didn’t have to worry about anything.

During the winter of 2005 we experienced almost total destruction of our lake home due to a broken water pipe. I contacted R. Tews Construction & Design and asked for some help and guidance in dealing with all of these issues that I knew we would face in the coming months in trying to rebuild our home. Not only were they able to help in the process of design and rebuilding, but they were invaluable in helping us to deal with the insurance company as well. When we had questions about materials or design possibilities, they always had helpful suggestions or directions to speed the process along.

Quality and Trust: My wife and I signed a contract with R. Tews Construction to build our new home on the existing property of my wife's family on Lake Wissota. After interviewing other firms, we chose R. Tews Construction because of many factors, but the prime one was that Randy stressed he was fussy about details. That made our day. At the time, we lived in a suburb north of Chicago, so we could not be in Wisconsin every day. Because of the distance, communication was extremely important. Thanks to R. Tews Construction & Design, Inc., our home remodeling project was a positive experience for us from start to finish.   We purchased our home in 2004 and soon realized something needed to be done in order to fully utilize both the main level and the finished lower level.  The main level had a deck that needed to be replaced and the lower level needed better temperature control.  We decided to replace the main level deck with a sunroom, screened porch and stairs with access to the backyard; we would add a sunroom, patio, fireplace and rezone the heating and cooling on the lower level. 

We reviewed several regional contractors and settled on R. Tews Construction & Design, Inc., for several reasons:
 

1. We had observed their work on a large job and a small job and were impressed with the quality and timeliness of the efforts.
2. Anecdotal evidence indicated they had a reputation for staying within budget, a key issue for us.
3. On our initial meeting with Randy Tews we were impressed with his knowledge of the design, construction and engineering aspects of a remodeling project.
4. Since we lived in a different part of the country for 37 years and were not familiar with the building codes in this area, we wanted to be sure the codes were enforced to ensure a quality product.  Randy convinced us they would do that. 

After selecting R Tews, it was evident we had made the right choice, especially since the work was done in the middle of winter, because:

1. The company was responsive to all design and construction questions, especially relating to the effect of winter conditions on the construction process.
2. The project ran on schedule except for a few days of inclement weather.
3. The workmen were exacting, courteous and took pride in their work.
4. The few minor items identified by Randy Tews, his superintendant, and us at the end of the project were corrected promptly and to our complete satisfaction.
